What Is Independent Facilitation?
What Is An Independent Facilitator?
-
An independent facilitator is a person chosen by either the family/caregiver of an autistic person or by an autistic person themselves, to assist them in understanding the regional center self determination program (SDP).
-
The Independent facilitator helps individuals who participate in the self determination program, to identify their needs, for life enriching activities and experiences, to make decisions about their individual budget, and to coordinate support while advocating for their short/long term needs while advocating for their best interest.
NOTE; It is important to understand that an independent facilitator cannot be someone who is already providing services to the participant and the independent facilitator is paid from the participants individual sdp budget.
